Launceston has a very deep and famous gorge with magnificent walks, bridges, history, and wildlife. Pictured below is a curious animal called an "Echidna." It's very closely related to the platypus. It carries its young in a pouch like a kangaroo, has quills like a porcuipine, and buries its head in the ground when approached -- fortunately, a minute or so later it will look up and pose for a quick picture...
