Big Route Map

My 8 day trip through the Galapagos on the M.N. Tropic Sun was a definite highlight of my trip through South America. I will spare you the day by day details, but instead offer this guide to the fauna of the islands... Each day we awoke at 7:00 for breakfast and set out at 8:00 for a walk around the islands. Our guide, a perfect English speaking, college educated environmentalist and naturalist, took us around and explained every single detail about the animals, their habitat, and their habits. Lunch on the boat at 12:30 was usually followed by a short nap while en route to the next destination. The afternoon session was usually started with some snorkeling. Often, sea lions would swim right up to you, sniff your mask, and then circle around you -- it was quite thrilling. After another short walk, we would return to the boat for sunset, a beer, and then a 4 course sitdown dinner. We then retired to the deck for stargazing, cards, drinks, and discussion of the upcoming day. I can wholeheartedly recommend the staff and facilities of the Tropic Sun if you're interested in a Galapagos vacation.
